Parking Lot Project

Dean Cathleen Bascom describes how a $100,000 I-JOBS grant will be used to install gardens that exemplify good water practices. The Downtown School principal John Johnson, Vice-president of PACE/Juvenile Center John Spinks, and Interim Youth Director Vern Johnson explore how the gardens might offer educational opportunities for neighboring youth and children. Welcome. The Cathedral Church of St. Paul takes seriously Jesus' inclusion of all people in the Good News of God's love. There is a place for YOU in this community of faith!

Worship.  We gather to worship God every Sunday at 8 and 10 am. We are a people of Word and Sacrament, combining sacred traditions of liturgy and music with relevant preaching.  Our High Street Chapel is open to the public Mondays through Fridays from 11:30 am to 1 pm.

Witness.  Since the mid-1800s, St. Paul's has felt a special calling to care for those in our city and our world who are in  economic need.  Members are especially involved in the Connection Café and Central Iowa Shelter meal programs and in initiatives in Africa, in Swaziland and Sudan.

Save the Dates!
Godly Play Organizing Event
Tuesday, July 20, at 6:30 pm. Parents of children ages 3-11 are invited to an evening of fellowship and sorting the materials for the Godly Play classroom. Light and enjoyable food will be served and childcare provided for those too young to be of much help.

Singles and Doubles
August 20 at 6 pm at the home of Elvin McDonald and john Zickefoose. Bring an appetizer, salad, entree or dessert to share and $2.50 per person for the drinks kitty.

The New Altar Frontal
The new frontal  by local artist Carol Van Horn will be dedicated on Sunday, July 25. The frontal will be used in the summer during Ordinary Time, so it has a  green color scheme.

The design is based
on the Biblical concept of “I am the vine.”

Here's the Dirt--a Hands-on Learning Experience
Tuesday, July 27, from 1-2:30 pm, school-age children and youth from St. Paul's, joined by our neighbors from PACE and Oakridge, will have an opportunity to get up close and personal with dirt--to learn about what soil is made of and why sand, silt and clay are important for water retention and drainage. This will help to better understand what our new rain garden and parking lot will do for the downtown environment.

Weddings

In the Episcopal Church, Holy Matrimony is not just a ceremony of public commitment. It is a Sacrament.  In the Episcopal tradition, marriage is more than two people trying to build a life together; it is an opportunity for God to do something special in us and
 for us.

St. Paul's is happy to host weddings for active members and their immediate families.  Occasionally we extend this hospitality to others.

What must I do to be married at St. Paul's?
